Anniversaries of Death

Todays the day! We are finally back in church and the eucharistic fast is over for many of you, please keep in mind those who are still not able to join us. We have prided ourselves on being well ahead of the game as the guidance has changed over the last month, and so there was a moment of panic on Friday when we were informed by the steeplejacks that one of the turrets on the church tower at St Peter’s was insecure and we need to lock the west door! However after a few frantic hours in which the plan was redrawn and the door in St Dunstan’s (Children’s area) was repaired and the risk assessment completed. Mass is a little different because we can not have any communal singing at the moment and the seats are all spaced out. We also welcome our families back but I am afraid the Children’s area is closed for the time being , so you would have to bring your books and toy’s etc. Hand sanitizer is freely available but if you wanted to wear single use gloves that would be fine likewise the wearing of masks is completely at your own discretion.

Whilst the church building was closed, we have continued as the church! As most of you will know the life of prayer of the church has continued with Mass taking place every single day and streamed on majority of days. I hope you have been able to maintain some prayer life of your own as well. I hope we can build on this in the future months and develop our prayer lives as a congregation.

We have also been busy with our social outreach work, working in partnership with Transforming Plymouth Together and other agencies we are now supplying 20 food parcels for people in need identified through our church school and any surplus food is helping out the foodbank and the daily soup kitchen at Union Corner. We have been helping out as an overflow store for Plymouth Foodbank. Nudge Community which runs 3 projects on Union Street are helping people to get connected online and our looking for old computer laptops and tablets which they get cleaned and renovated for use by people who can’t afford new units, so that children can access on line learning and isolated people can keep in touch with family and friends, Please let me know if you have a device which is no longer in use.
