Anniversaries of Death Mass is streamed daily at https://www.facebook.com/stpetersplymouth How has Covid 19 affected you and your prayer life? It was lovely to see so many of you at Mass last Sunday whilst being mindful that for some it is still not possible to join us. Things were a bit different, but the essentials were the same, the Word and the Sacrament were shared and adored! Some of us looked a bit different because we had not been able to get that hair appointment yet! How about our prayer lives? Has that changed did we find praying away from the church building more difficult or easier? Some of the research carried out so far has suggested that more people who don’t usually pray, prayed during lockdown. When we had the wonderful weather at the beginning of lockdown I said my daily prayers in the garden, sometimes nature enhanced my prayer and sometimes it acted as a distraction but that can be the same in church. I would love to hear from you, about your experiences of praying through the pandemic, regardless if of whether it was a positive or negative experience.
My hope and my prayer is that our mission community will, as a result of this crisis, become healthier, though a new appreciation of the place of prayer in our lives and a greater involvement in the service (love) of our local community. The fact that so many of you came to Mass last week shows there is a hunger for a living relationship with God through Christ so let us find where the Holy Spirit is leading us at this time. With love and prayers, Fr David
